Wireless Notebook

Does my router have to be Wireless g if my notebook adapter is?
I have a D-Link AirPlus G dwl-g630 wireless notebook adapter
in my laptop
so if i buy a router to make my own wireless network would the router have to be wireless g or does it not matter
Ive been trying to decide wich router to buy, when i realized the adapter in my laptop could be a problem
G is 54 Mbps (megabits per second). The router must have at least G compatibility to utilise the laptop adapter at G speeds.
A router with G will run you 20 bucks and up. Depends where you shop.
What you don’t want is an N router, although it would fallback to G, you don’t have an N adapter so its a waste of money.
Also the final N spec hasnt been fully released yet (though current N routers will be compatible) so we are probably a year away from N obsoleting G. N will be in all retail laptops etc. For now you don’t need it.
