Vaio Asus
Should I get an Asus notebook with better specs for less money or an Inspiron or VAIO for more money?

or should I go for the brand name stuff like Dell or Sony for what looks like the same if not worse specs for a higher price? I’m looking for a laptop for college btw I’m going to be an engineer at either Georgia Tech, Stanford, Cal Tech, MIT, or Berkeley if that helps with the advice giving. Much appreciated.

The Asus looks good! While Dell got good value-for-money with pretty similar specifications.
You may consider Mac Pro based on your subject major – if your budget permits.
