Black Netbook

ASUS Eee PC 1001PX-EU17-BK 10.1-Inch Netbook Black
I have owned this netbook for every week currently, and needed to share my thoughts. i’ll try and update this review when many months moreover.
Pros:
1. stunning style and lightweight weight. this can be a part of the ASUS seashell style family, with stunning curves and style details. The netbook surfaces are textured to reduce fingerprint smudges. For that reason, i believe white appearance far better than black since the texturing shows a lot of on the black and makes it look a lot of gray or brown than a sublime black. The white appearance terribly elegant. The netbook weighs little (about the burden of a textbook).
2. Performance and options. Its plenty faster than i used to be expecting, and multitasks quite well (granted, the worst I actually have been subjecting it to has been putting in several programs, streaming videos, and a few video processing). There are times after you will notice an explicit slower response than a laptop however those instances are few to date. conjointly a note on memory – i believe the 1GB memory is all i’ll would like for currently. I actually have not had a sluggish performance downside, and my free memory has continuously been >200MB whereas running multiple applications. this can be a and as I will not have to be compelled to upgrade to 2GB memory at once as most netbook users do.
Overall on performance, may|i’d} say it’s eightieth of a laptop (and not five hundredth or lower united might expect). I will see myself not needing my laptop for something apart from MATLAB or intensive programs from currently on.
3. Features. i prefer the gorgeous bright LED screen and multitouch touchpad (scroll with 2 fingers etc).
4. tiny power adapter. the ability adapter is 0.5 the scale of laptop power adapters, that is great for travel.
5. very little bloatware. Few (~4-5) pre-installed programs. Dell is notorious during this class.
Cons:
1. Battery life. it is a 3-cell battery, and rated solely to four hours max. I actually have been obtaining around three hours using it normally with screen brightness at five hundredth (with this screen, five hundredth is lots – 100 percent is just too bright). i’ll positively have to be compelled to take my power adapter with me wherever i am going. This may well be a heavy downside for a few of you. think about a number of the opposite ASUS models (8-11 hours battery life) if it’s.
2. Temperature. Minor issue, however it gets a trifle heat whereas running. you will not would like a cooling pad or something however you may notice. Actually, you would possibly not even notice betting on what you are used to. i’m used to a Thinkpad laptop that has one amongst the most effective cooling.
3. Windows starter. It lacks in options compared to higher versions, like the flexibility to vary your desktop image. Not a problem on behalf of me however may well be for a few of you.
4. Touchpad and keyboard. Again, getting used to a Thinkpad’s superb touchpad and keyboard, this one takes a trifle obtaining used to. The touchpad buttons are exhausting to press. The keyboard may be a very little cramped. It should not take over two weeks to induce used to though.
5. solely two USB ports. It will associate with a SD/MMC card reader though.
PS: I got this throughout the thanksgiving sales for 230 bucks. i’d say something around 250 may be a bargain for this netbook. however i’d not pay three hundred or higher than for it.
