How do you replace a motherboard chipset fan?
Is there a way to replace my mobo chipset fan WITHOUT taking the motherboard out of the case? I’m open to creative ideas.
Looks like this! http://www.newegg.com/Product/ShowImage.asp?Image=35%2D110%2D102%2D04%2Ejpg%2C35%2D110%2D102%2D02%2EJPG%2C35%2D110%2D102%2D03%2EJPG&CurImage=35%2D110%2D102%2D04%2Ejpg&Description=VANTEC+CCB%2DA1A+Sleeve+VGA+Cooler+Kit+%2D+Retail
Also, that is a VGA cooler fan. I’m hoping that will work on my K8N Neo2 MSI Motherboard chipset!!!
I’ve been using this system for over a year with this chipset fan turned off. No problems that I know of.
Think I can replace just the fan without removing the chipset heatsink it is in?
PEOPLE DO NOT READ!!! THIS IS A MOTHERBOARD NORTHBRIDGE CHIPSET FAN THAT NEEDS TO BE REPLACED!! NOT A CPU FAN!!!!!!!!!
yes its possible however if you are running the system with a bad fan you risk overheating the processor which in turn causes irreversable damage and can cause your motherboard to fail.
Wait i just looked at it this fan is the coolant for your motherboard chipset. Then your system BETTER BE OFF otherwise you need a motherboard as well (consider it permanent damage). Those cooling fans are very specific as to what it goes with look it up on your motherboards website and go from there.
