Can i carry a guitar on a SOUTHWEST plane?

I have a soft backback nylon case. I just need it to end up with me in New Mexico, from phoenix, without being checked.
More than likely you are going to have to check it. Most airlines require that carry ons fit under the seat or in the overhead bin.
According to Southwest’s website you will have to buy an extra ticket to carry it on.
