Notebook School Dell
Mac or PC notebook for school?

Hello! Long story made short- We only have 1 computer (dell desktop), right next to my parents room. For high school next year I will need to stay up really late to do homework and they don’t want me near there room that late typing. So, they agreed to buy/help buy a laptop.

Now comes the ultimate question. Mac or PC?
Here’s the factors-

Price- $1 – $1,200 (not a cent more!)

What it has to have-

-DVD/CD-rom drive
-AT LEAST 1 USB port (preferably 2 or more)
-5.5 hours or more battery life (preferably 6 or more)
-SAFE!
-Microsoft word/office etc.. can be used on it
-Decent looking
-Not more than 6.6 pounds

Screen size- 12+ inch (diagonal)

Thanks!
And I’m not moving from middle school to H.S…. I’m going into 11th (very hopefully).
My mom’s a teacher, and I understand that she receives special pricing on apple laptops.

Well asking that question is going to start a big flame war but here goes.

My recommendation is to get a PC based on widely available hardware and software, coupled with the fact that PC is and will remain for quite some time the industry standard computing platform for business.

Mac has some good features but PC is cheaper and can be quite safe and reliable when used properly.
