Notebook Laptop Carrying

I want to buy a notebook laptop?
I am soon to become a sixth former and i want to buy a notebook laptop to help me with my school work. Could anyone give me advice on which ones to get?
Here are my requirements – if you know of any notebook laptop that follows these requirements please tell me of it below
It has to be XP or above
Under £350
4+ hours of battery life
It has to be light to carry
It DOESN’T have to have good gaming capability as it is for educational uses
It must have wireless internet access
If anyone posts the notebook that I buy, they will be voted as best answer
Yep, a netbook sounds like what you’re looking for. Perfect for typing on the go and surfing the net. They all pretty much feature the same internal specs, but a few do stand out. Don’t expect to play HD video on these things though.
My recommendations:
EeePC 1005HA – If overall great value and impressive battery life is what you need. This thing can run for 7 hours of normal use and up to 10 hours according to the specs. It also has a pretty good keyboard despite it being slightly smaller than full size. My dad has this and he loves it. But personally I find a 1024×600 screen a little cramped. Not sure how much this costs from where you are, but it runs at a little over $300. It’s available for £300 at Amazon. It’s also really light at 2.4lbs and equipped with an Atom N280 so it’s faster than some other netbooks.

Lenovo Ideapad S12 – If you’re not comfortable with netbooks. It’s more like an ultralight notebook (i.e., Macbook Air), but a lot weaker (like a netbook) with a 12″ screen. Sure, the onboard graphics chip still won’t be able to playback 1080p HD videos, but you’ll appreciate the screen real-estate all the same. At 1280×800 the screen is bright and the image crisp. It also has a full sized keyboard, which means easier touch-typing. With a 6-cell battery, this thing can run at about 5 hours of normal use, maybe longer. Downside is that it’s a little bit on the pricey end for netbooks at £400 at Amazon, though better deals are available. It’s also a little heavier at 3.7lbs. I’d personally go with the EeePc, but it’s your call.
