If you want to knit one, I’d suggest worsted weight yarn. It looks like that’s what they used. That’s also called medium, weight group 4, or 4ply. Red Heart Classic is my favorite. Use what you like best. Check the yarn wrapper and use the size needles they recommend. Get the gauge from the wrapper, too.
Measure your laptop all the way around the shortest way. Multiply that by your gauge. If it’s 20″ around, and your gauge says you get 4 stitches per inch, cast on 80 stitches. It looks like these cases are all ribbed. I like a plain old k1p1 rib, but you can do k2p2 or k2p1 if you prefer. Knit in rib all the way up. Change colors at the edge or use a variegated yarn. Knit until it’s long enough and then cast off in rib. That gives you the best edge. Sew it together and go.
