Laptop Neoprene

Homemade Laptop Case/Bag?
I want to make a laptop case for my boyfriend since he just got a new laptop and I would rather make one instead of buying one because I want it to be special. I need to find a material that would be shock-absorbing and pliable. I know there’s neoprene and polyethylene but it’s hard to find pieces of that in stores. I want something that I can buy in stores and isn’t too expensive.
Thanks.
Get some HDF or high density fiberboard or hardboard (different names for the same product) for the framework. It is available in 1/4″ & 1/8″ thicknesses. Probably 1/8″ thickness is a better choice. Then get foam sheets (about 1/2″ thick. Then cloth to your liking. Then a zipper long enough to reach around three sides of the case. You’ll need a carrying handle of some sort.
