Apple’s New 21.5 inch iMac Intel Core i3 Computer- A Brief Review

Apple just released its newest 21.5 inch iMac with the Intel Core i3 this week. There are two models to choose from: the 3.06Ghz or 3.2Ghz model. This is Apple’s latest all in one desktop computer. Previous iMac models came standard with the Intel Core 2 Duo CPU and Nvidia integrated graphics card. Those components have been exchanged for a newer dual-core Intel Core i3 processor and ATI discrete graphics card. There is also the option to choose the Intel Core i5 processor for the new iMac at configuration.

Performance

The great thing about this new is that it performs similar to a quad-core processor, which means it can process four streams of data at once. The new iMac comes standard with 4GB of RAM, a 500GB hard drive, and has built in Wi-Fi and Bluetooth capabilities. It will also come standard with SuperDrive capable of burning both DVD’s and CD’s.

Customization

Both the RAM and internal hard drive can be upgraded at configuration to accommodate the user’s needs. The new iMac will support up to 8GB of RAM. The internal hard drive can be upgraded to 1TB for the 3.06Ghz model and up to 2TB for the 3.2Ghz model.

Compatibility

As with previous iMac models, the new 21.5 inch iMac will also allow a full version of Windows to run seamlessly alongside its native operating system, Snow Leopard. The new 21.5 inch iMac operates even faster in the 64-bit version of Windows 7 while running Snow Leopard’s included application Boot Camp. This is great for those who need to occasionally run Windows applications on the iMac.

Conclusion

The new 21.5 inch iMac Intel Core i3 model is Apple’s most powerful, yet affordable desktop to date. It is great for everything from basic, everyday computing, to professional level video and photo editing and everything in between. Apple’s new iMac is sure to be another one of Apple’s most sought after products.
