Bag Handle Apple
Economics of apple labels?

A labeling machine can apply stickers to apples at a rate of 60 apples per minute?
And it takes the consumer 1.5 minutes to remove the sticker because of the time it took to first try picking it off with his fingernail, then discovering it won’t come off without gouging the skin, so a paring knife is employed to get under the sticker, which then sticks to the blade and the finger, and the garbage can bag etc…

Assuming 22 million apples with stickers are consumed annually, how many hours are used for pricking off stickers?

If the machine runs around the clock, it can handle 22 million apples in one year.

So my question is: If we use 550,000 hours to prick off the labels the one machine produced annually, why in tarnation are we allowing this machine to exist?

Well.. it’d be a lot less wasteful to create packaging for apples. It makes for a more convenient and less intrusive way of placing the logo of the company that harvested it. The machine’s just there to make sure whatever company the apple came from’s name is known
