Aluminum Laptop Case

Laptop Hunt!!! Which laptop would be best? BEST LAPTOP GETS 10 PTS.?
I’m looking for a laptop but I haven’t kept up on the technology out there so I’m not sure which brand/processor/video card would be best. The specifications below are the minimum requirements for the Graphic Design program at my school. Aside from these requirements, my priority is portability and durability. My last laptop was a 17inch powerhouse which ended up getting banged up due to size. Aluminum casing is a big plus!! The laptop needs to be under $1200.
Minimum Specs
- 2.0 Ghz processor
- A display with 1280 x 800 pixel resolution
- 2GB system memory (RAM)
- 120GB hard drive
- Dedicated video processor with 128MB video memory
- Optical drive supporting CD-R/RW and DVD+/-RW formats
Do not pick a computer that:
- Is wider than 15in
- Is thicker than 1.5 inches (I know most specs don’t give how thick a laptop is, but estimate).
- Has a cheap casing.
PS: Some brands give discounts to Portland State University students…
Since you are in Graphic Design… get a Mac, simple. If you can afford it, get the MacBook Pro 15″ since it has a faster i5 processor and a better graphics chip. When you can afford it, get a large monitor for home to hook it up to when you are working there. You can use the laptop screen for the tools and design on the large screen. Trust me, you’ll get tired of trying to do all your design on a laptop. The vast majority of design is done on a Mac… including Microsoft ads and commercials.
